Preliminary Study of Postabortal Intrauterine Device (IUD)

Abstract
|
|
|
Three hundreds seventy-two cases were submitted to postabortal intrauterine device (Lippes loop D) immediately after curettage or next day at the National Medical Center and its affiliated clinics during 20 months from September 1971 to June 1963 and the following results were observed.
1) Age distribution showed the highest incidence in the age group of 30 and next in latter half of 20.
2) Number of living children showed the highest in 3-4 children(46. 2%) and next 1-2 children (45.2%).
3) Duration of wearing showed 41.9% in 7-12 months and 31.2% in 13-20 months.
4) Number of abortion showed 47.3% in 1-2 abortions and 34.4% in 3-4 abortions.
5) Complications after postabortal IUD were bleeding, pain and leukorrhea with the incidence of 10%, 11°o and 10% respectively, which showed not greater than that of interval IUD insertion.
